Market snapshot
Ad Competition Index
64.8/ 100
Rank 388 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 165 of the 400 markets we cover. Higher means more local businesses competing for the same searches. How the index is built
We score every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many ad-heavy local businesses (such as lawyers, dentists, contractors, agents and similar) are chasing the same residents. Utah County scores 64.8, which is close to the middle of the pack.
Two things stand out: Utah County is one of the faster-growing counties in the country, and it is also a county with heavy new home construction for its size. The eight measures below show how it compares with every other county.
Each bar sets Utah County against all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Source data: Census Bureau population estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Census income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
What stands out
Few things matter more to a local advertiser than new arrivals, and Utah County has them: 9.1% more people than at the 2020 Census, a faster pace than 95% of comparable counties, for 719,174 residents in all. Someone who just moved is searching for a dentist, a roofer or an accountant with no loyalty to any of them yet.
The biggest places in Utah County are Provo (113,343), Orem (95,519), Lehi (90,227), Eagle Mountain (56,932) and Saratoga Springs (52,532). We can aim by city, by ZIP code or by a radius around your location, so you are not paying for clicks from the far side of the county.
Where demand is heading
Units authorized by building permits. Source: the U.S. Census Bureau's Building Permits Survey (annual files by county, plus a year-to-date comparison of identical months). Permits count homes approved to be built, not homes completed.
Utah County authorized 11,040 housing units in 2021 and 7,263 in 2025, about 34% fewer; 2025 still works out to 101 units per 10,000 residents, more than in 94% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 3,674 against 4,847 a year earlier (−24.2%).
In Utah County, the construction-linked categories already busiest are real estate agents and brokers (3.0x typical) and electrical contractors (1.4x typical). For businesses that serve new households, permits are an early warning: when permits turn, searches tend to turn after them, and your budget and schedule should move with both.
The field you are bidding in
We divide each category's employer locations by population, then compare the result with the median county. A reading of 2.0x means twice as many locations per resident as a typical county.
Crowding compares employer locations per 10,000 residents with the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). Figures are establishments from the Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), not a count of active advertisers. Method
In Utah County, the real estate agents and brokers category is the most crowded, with 543 locations at 3.0 times the typical density; the count is up 23.1% since 2017. Dentists (378 locations, 1.9x) and electrical contractors (222 locations, 1.4x) also sit above a normal county. At the other end, the general automotive repair category (156 locations) is below typical density at 0.8x, which can mean more room to win a strong position.
Residential remodelers grew fastest, up 77% since 2017 to 239 locations. The biggest operators sit in physicians offices: 52 of 369 locations have 20 or more employees.
One caution: these are counts of local businesses, not click prices. Click prices are set in an auction that also depends on your keywords, ads, landing page and the exact search, so a crowded category is a reason to plan carefully, not a price.

Where the customers are
Here is each place's population, taken from the Census Bureau's newest estimates. A place is not the same as a service area, yet it shows where most customers live.

|---|---|---|
| Provo | 113,343 | 16% |
| Orem | 95,519 | 13% |

Management is a flat monthly fee, $895 for one platform, $1,595 for two and $2,295 for three, and it stays the same however large your ad budget is. Ad spend goes to the platform, and cancelling is always allowed.
Begin with your own economics, not a rule of thumb: the calculator above turns your profit per new customer and your close rate into the most you can pay per lead. In Utah County, real estate agents and brokers (3.0x) and dentists (1.9x) are denser than a typical county, so if you are in one of those categories plan for a busier auction. We size the budget with you before launch and scale as results come in.
About average. Utah County scores 64.8 on our Ad Competition Index, ranking 388th of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 165th of the 400 markets we cover. Real estate agents and brokers, at 3.0 times the typical county. That rewards consistency: steady campaigns can take positions that would be fought over in a larger market.
Across the twelve ad-heavy categories we track, the largest by employer locations in Utah County are real estate agents and brokers (543), dentists (378) and physicians offices (369). Measured against a typical county, the most crowded are real estate agents and brokers (3.0x) and dentists (1.9x). A large or crowded category does not settle whether ads will work for you; it shows how many other businesses may be bidding on the same searches.
There is no single answer. Some accounts get calls the first day; others need two to four weeks of tuning, and more in crowded categories like real estate agents and brokers. We check the searches that triggered your ads early and exclude those that do not suit your business.
Utah County has 719,174 residents, +9.1% since the 2020 Census, and 7,263 housing units were permitted in 2025 (101 per 10,000 residents). Growth at that pace keeps adding people who have not picked a provider yet. Whichever way it goes, ads reach the people who are searching today, so we keep an eye on these trends when we set budgets.
Yes. We can target by city (Provo, Orem, Lehi, Eagle Mountain and others), by ZIP code or by a radius around your location.
We do. In addition to Google Ads, we handle Bing ads and Meta ads, which run on Facebook and Instagram. Google usually comes first because searchers are ready to act; Bing gives you a second search audience while Facebook and Instagram reach people ahead of their search. You pay by platform count: $895, $1,595 or $2,295 a month.
There is no contract; you can cancel anytime. A dedicated account manager handles your campaign and sends monthly reports on the calls, forms and sales.
