The market in numbers
Ad Competition Index
66.3/ 100
Rank 338 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 143 of the 400 markets we cover. More local businesses chasing the same searches pushes the score up. How the index is built
We grade every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many ad-heavy local businesses (including lawyers, dentists, contractors, agents and similar) compete for the same customers. King County scores 66.3, which is more crowded than most.
Two things stand out: King County is a high-income county, and it is also a county where new home permits are accelerating this year. The eight measures that follow place it among every other county.
Each bar sets King County among all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Data from: U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Census income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.

Market profile
King County is an affluent market by U.S. standards: a median household income of $120,672 puts it above 98% of counties. Affluent customers tend to research before they call, so the ad is only the first step; the page behind it has to earn trust quickly.
King County has 2,271,380 residents, which ranks 12th of 3,143 U.S. counties; its population has moved +0.1% since the 2020 Census.
No single place dominates King County: the largest, Seattle, holds about 33% of residents. Larger places include Seattle (755,078), Bellevue (151,574), Kent (133,378), Renton (104,491) and Federal Way (97,701). Each is a market of its own, and we set campaigns up around the ones you serve.
The field you are bidding in
Each category's employer locations are divided by population and compared with the median county. A 2.0x reading means two times the locations per resident that a typical county has.
Crowding is employer locations per 10,000 residents relative to the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). Counts are establishments from County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), which is not the same as active advertisers. See the method
In King County, the real estate agents and brokers category is the most crowded, with 2,280 locations at 4.0 times the typical density; the count is up 41.9% since 2017. Law offices (1,607 locations, 2.5x) and residential remodelers (1,632 locations, 2.4x) also sit above a normal county. At the other end, the plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors category (456 locations) is below typical density at 0.6x, which can mean more room to win a strong position.
Real estate agents and brokers is also the fastest-growing category, up 41.9% since 2017, so the crowding is still building. Plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors went the other way, down 14.3% to 456 locations. The biggest operators sit in plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors: 87 of 456 locations have 20 or more employees.
Keep this in mind: this shows how many local businesses exist, not what a click costs. Auctions set click prices, and they also depend on your keywords, ads, landing page and the exact search, so a crowded category is a reason to plan carefully, not a price.
Where demand is heading
Housing units authorized by building permits. Source: U.S. Census Bureau Building Permits Survey (annual files by county, plus a year-to-date comparison of identical months). A permit is an authorization, not a finished home.
King County authorized 19,549 housing units in 2021 and 8,453 in 2025, about 57% fewer; 2025 still works out to 37.2 units per 10,000 residents, more than in 62% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 7,409 against 4,222 a year earlier (+75.5%).
In King County, the construction-linked categories already busiest are real estate agents and brokers (4.0x typical) and residential remodelers (2.4x typical). If you serve new households, watch permits as an early signal: when they turn, search demand typically follows, and your budget and ad schedule should too.

The process
We put together your campaign from a strong base: pages built to turn clicks into calls, keywords, ads, ad extensions and conversion tracking.
With the campaign live, we check in and adjust often, filtering out irrelevant searches with negative keywords, refining bids and improving lead quality.
We put more behind the ad groups that perform and try wider keywords to bring in more calls than before.
The tuning never stops, and we lower your monthly management fee as your account grows, which lifts your return.
Platforms we manage
Google search
Your business at the top of Google when someone in King County searches for what you sell. You pay only when someone clicks.
Paid social
Social ads on Facebook and Instagram, built in Meta's platform, that put you in front of King County people before they go looking.
Bing and Microsoft
A second search audience on Bing, Microsoft Edge and Microsoft's partner network, for people who do not start on Google.
Many names, one service
Whether you call it Google Ads, PPC, pay-per-click, Facebook ads, Instagram ads or paid ads, it means the same thing: you pay when someone clicks, and we manage the campaign for King County businesses on one flat plan.
Start with the platform your customers use most. Many King County businesses begin with Google Ads and later add Facebook and Instagram to stay in front of people who have not searched yet. We manage Google, Bing and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) together under one account manager.
Fees
A single monthly management fee, no long-term contracts, scaled to the number of platforms we manage. Ad spend is separate and goes straight to the ad platform. Spending more than $10K a month on ads? Call us.
Try your own figures
Each business has a different break-even. Enter what a new customer is worth to you and how often a lead becomes one, and the calculator shows the highest cost per lead you can afford, how many customers pay for your month, and how your expected cost per lead stacks up.
Questions
Management is a flat monthly fee, $895 for one platform, $1,595 for two and $2,295 for three, and it never rises with your ad budget. Ad spend is paid to the platform, and you can cancel anytime.
Work from your own numbers instead of a rule of thumb: the calculator above turns your profit per new customer and your close rate into the most you can pay per lead. In King County, real estate agents and brokers (4.0x) and law offices (2.5x) are denser than a typical county, so if you are in one of those categories plan for a busier auction. Before launch we size the budget with you, then scale as results arrive.
More than most. King County scores 66.3 on our Ad Competition Index, ranking 338th of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 143rd of the 400 markets we cover. Real estate agents and brokers, at 4.0 times the typical county. That is no reason to skip ads; it makes targeting and landing pages matter more.
Across the twelve ad-heavy categories we track, the largest by employer locations in King County are real estate agents and brokers (2,280), residential remodelers (1,632) and law offices (1,607). Measured against a typical county, the most crowded are real estate agents and brokers (4.0x) and law offices (2.5x). A big or crowded category does not decide whether ads work for you; it shows how many other businesses may be bidding on the same searches.
There is no single answer. Some accounts get calls the first day; others need two to four weeks of tuning, more so in busy categories like real estate agents and brokers. At the start we look at which searches triggered your ads and cut the ones that do not fit your business.
King County has 2,271,380 residents, +0.1% since the 2020 Census, and 8,453 housing units were permitted in 2025 (37.2 per 10,000 residents). Because the population is close to flat, most new customers already have a provider and need a reason to switch. Whichever way it goes, ads reach the people who are searching today, and that is why these trends inform the budgets we set.
Yes. We can target by city (Seattle, Bellevue, Kent, Renton and others), by ZIP code or by a radius around your location. Roughly 10% of residents live outside any incorporated place, and radius targeting is frequently how we reach them.
Yes. On top of Google Ads, we run Bing ads and Meta ads, which run on Facebook and Instagram. Google usually comes first because searchers are ready to act; Bing adds a second search audience, and Facebook and Instagram reach people before they search. Pricing follows the platform count: $895, $1,595 or $2,295 a month.
There is no contract; you can cancel anytime. A dedicated account manager handles your campaign and sends monthly reports on the calls, forms and sales.
