Ad Competition Index
83.6/ 100
Rank 59 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 22 of the 400 markets we cover. Higher means more local businesses competing for the same searches. How the index is built
We rate every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many ad-heavy local businesses (including lawyers, dentists, contractors, agents and similar) compete for the same customers. Westchester County scores 83.6, which is among the most crowded markets in the country.
Two things stand out: Westchester County is a high-income county, and it is also a county with unusually many ad-heavy local businesses for its size. The eight measures below show how it compares with each other county.
The bars place Westchester County against all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Source data: U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Census income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
Market profile
Household income in Westchester County is high: the median is $114,020, above 97% of U.S. counties. Customers in a market like this often weigh quality and trust alongside price, so ads and landing pages that show credentials, reviews and a clear process tend to do more than a bare discount.
Westchester County has 990,817 residents, which ranks 49th of 3,143 U.S. counties; its population has moved −1.4% since the 2020 Census.
The biggest places in Westchester County are Yonkers (207,657), New Rochelle (83,742), Mount Vernon (71,168), White Plains (61,288) and Harrison (30,780). We can aim by city, by ZIP code or by a radius around your location, so a business on one side of the county is not paying for clicks from the other.
263,686 people, or 27% of residents, live outside any incorporated place. Radius and ZIP targeting reach them where city-only targeting would not.
Your competition
Each category's employer locations are divided by population and compared with the median county. A 2.0x reading means double the locations per resident of a typical county.
Crowding is employer locations per 10,000 residents relative to the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). The counts are establishments in County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), not a count of active advertisers. See the method
In Westchester County, the residential remodelers category is the most crowded, with 972 locations at 3.3 times the typical density; the count is up 23.5% since 2017. Law offices (848 locations, 3.0x) and landscaping services (875 locations, 2.7x) also sit above a normal county. At the other end, the roofing contractors category (56 locations) is below typical density at 1.0x, which can mean more room to win a strong position.
Real estate agents and brokers grew fastest, up 31.5% since 2017 to 501 locations. Physicians offices went the other way, down 26.6% to 686 locations.
Keep in mind that these are counts of businesses, not ad costs. An auction decides what a click costs, and it weighs far more than the number of competitors, and that is why your keywords, offer and landing page drive how we build.
Where demand is heading
New homes authorized by building permits. Source: the U.S. Census Bureau's Building Permits Survey (county annual files; year-to-date comparison covers the same months in each year). Keep in mind that permits are approvals, not completed homes.
Westchester County authorized 3,454 housing units in 2022 and 1,321 in 2025, about 62% fewer; 2025 still works out to 13.3 units per 10,000 residents, less than in 74% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 640 against 656 a year earlier (−2.4%).
In Westchester County, the construction-linked categories already busiest are residential remodelers (3.3x typical) and landscaping services (2.7x typical). Every new household needs contractors, insurers, agents and providers, so the categories closest to construction notice a change in permits before the rest. If you work in that space, a change in permits is a cue to revisit your budget ahead of the busy stretch.

Run your own numbers
Whether ads pay off in Westchester County depends on your numbers, not a rule of thumb. Fill in the boxes with your own figures to see the most you can spend per lead and still come out even.
Step by step
We set up your campaign the right way from day one: landing pages, keywords, ads, ad extensions and conversion tracking.
With the campaign live, we check in and adjust often, blocking poor-fit searches with negative keywords, reworking bids and lifting lead quality.
We put more behind the ad groups that perform and try broader keywords to build on the calls you already get.
The tuning never stops, and we lower your monthly management fee as your account grows, so your return keeps rising.
More than Google
Paid search
Put your business first on Google when Westchester County customers search for what you offer. You pay only for clicks.
Meta ads
Paid social campaigns on Facebook and Instagram, run through Meta's ad platform, for the people in Westchester County who are not searching yet but would buy if they saw you.
Microsoft Ads
Another pool of searchers on Bing, Microsoft Edge and Microsoft's partner network, many of whom never open Google.
Different words, same service
Paid ads, PPC, pay-per-click, Google Ads, Facebook ads, Instagram ads: it is one service, you pay per click, and we run it for Westchester County businesses on a flat plan.
Most clients start with Google Ads, where intent is highest, and add Facebook and Instagram or Bing once the first campaign is working. One account manager runs all of them.
Management fees
Flat monthly management, no long-term contracts, priced by how many platforms we run for you. Your ad budget is separate and is paid directly to the platform. Budget over $10K a month? Let's talk.
Questions we hear
Our management fee is flat: $895 a month for one platform, $1,595 for two and $2,295 for three, and there is no long-term contract. Your ad spend is separate and goes straight to Google (or Bing or Meta).
Begin with your own economics, not a rule of thumb: the calculator above turns your profit per new customer and your close rate into the most you can pay per lead. In Westchester County, residential remodelers (3.3x) and law offices (3.0x) are denser than a typical county, so if you are in one of those categories plan for a busier auction. Before launch we size the budget with you, then scale as results arrive.
More than most. Westchester County scores 83.6 on our Ad Competition Index, ranking 59th of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 22nd of the 400 markets we cover. Residential remodelers leads on density, at 3.3 times the typical county. Crowding does not rule ads out; it makes targeting and landing pages matter more.
Across the twelve ad-heavy categories we track, the largest by employer locations in Westchester County are residential remodelers (972), landscaping services (875) and law offices (848). Measured against a typical county, the most crowded are residential remodelers (3.3x) and law offices (3.0x). A large or crowded category does not settle whether ads will work for you; it tells you how many other businesses may be bidding on the same searches.
There is no single answer. Some accounts hear the phone ring on day one, and others need two to four weeks of tuning, more so in busy categories like residential remodelers. Early on we review which searches triggered your ads and exclude the ones that do not fit your business.
Westchester County has 990,817 residents, −1.4% since the 2020 Census, and 1,321 housing units were permitted in 2025 (13.3 per 10,000 residents). A shrinking population means most new customers have to be won from competitors. Either way, ads reach the people searching now, so we keep an eye on these trends when we set budgets.
Yes. We can target by city (Yonkers, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, White Plains and others), by ZIP code or by a radius around your location. Roughly 27% of residents live outside any incorporated place, and radius targeting is frequently how we reach them.
Yes. On top of Google Ads, we run Bing ads and Meta ads, which run on Facebook and Instagram. Google tends to be the first platform because searchers are ready to act; Bing gives you a second search audience while Facebook and Instagram reach people ahead of their search. You pay by platform count: $895, $1,595 or $2,295 a month.
You can cancel anytime, because there is no contract. You work with one dedicated account manager and get monthly reporting on the calls, forms and sales your campaign produces.
