Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsBay County is growing faster than 95% of counties, so a Google Ads campaign here has to be built accordingly. GetPhound manages Google Ads, Bing and Meta campaigns for Bay County businesses on plans that are flat, monthly and contract-free. Here is the data behind this market.
The market in numbers
Ad Competition Index
69.4/ 100
Sitting at rank 264 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and also 107 of the 400 markets we cover. A higher score means more local businesses are competing for the same searches. See the method
We grade every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many ad-heavy local businesses (such as lawyers, dentists, contractors, agents and similar) compete for its residents. Bay County scores 69.4, which is more crowded than most.
What defines Bay County is not the score alone. It is one of the faster-growing counties in the country, and it is a county with heavy new home construction for its size. Below, eight measures set it beside each other county.
Every bar compares Bay County among all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Data from: Census Bureau population estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Census income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
What stands out
Few things matter more to a local advertiser than new arrivals, and Bay County has them: 8.9% more people than at the 2020 Census, a faster pace than 95% of comparable counties, for 190,769 residents in all. Someone who just moved is searching for a dentist, a roofer or an accountant with no loyalty to any of them yet.
No single place dominates Bay County: the largest, Panama City, holds about 19% of residents. Larger places include Panama City (35,660), Lynn Haven (20,501), Panama City Beach (19,393), Callaway (13,661) and Springfield (8,255). Each one of them is its own market, so we build the campaign around the places you serve.
46% of residents (87,546 people) live outside any incorporated place. Radius and ZIP targeting reach them where city-only targeting would not.
Where the customers are
Place-by-place population from the latest Census Bureau estimates. These are not service areas, but they show where the biggest groups of customers are.
| Place name | Residents (2023 estimate) | Slice of the county |
|---|---|---|
| Panama City | 35,660 | 19% |
| Lynn Haven | 20,501 | 11% |
| Panama City Beach | 19,393 | 10% |
| Callaway | 13,661 | 7% |
| Springfield | 8,255 | 4% |
| Parker | 4,631 | 2% |

Demand signal
Housing units authorized by building permits. Data: the U.S. Census Bureau's Building Permits Survey (annual county files, with the year-to-date bars covering the same months in each year). Permits are authorizations, not completed homes.
Bay County authorized 2,610 housing units in 2021 and 2,054 in 2025, about 21% fewer; 2025 still works out to 107.7 units per 10,000 residents, more than in 95% of counties. From January through August, 1,315 units have been permitted, compared with 1,467 a year earlier (−10.4%).
In Bay County, the construction-linked categories already busiest are real estate agents and brokers (3.3x typical) and residential remodelers (1.8x typical). New households need contractors, insurers, agents and providers, so categories tied to construction feel a swing in permits first. If that is your category, a change in permits is a cue to revisit your budget ahead of the busy stretch.
Who you are bidding against
For each category we divide employer locations by population and compare the result with the median county. A reading of 2.0x means twice as many locations per resident as a typical county.
Crowding compares employer locations per 10,000 residents with the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). Counts are establishments from County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), not a count of active advertisers. See the method
The most crowded category in Bay County is real estate agents and brokers: 156 locations, 3.3x what a typical county has per resident, and up 79.3% since 2017. Physicians offices (208 locations, 2.7x) and residential remodelers (104 locations, 1.8x) also sit above a normal county.
Residential remodelers grew fastest, up 116.7% since 2017 to 104 locations. Insurance agencies and brokerages went the other way, down 11.5% to 69 locations. The biggest operators sit in physicians offices: 25 of 208 locations have 20 or more employees.
One caution: these are counts of local businesses, not click prices. Click prices are set in an auction that also depends on your keywords, ads, landing page and the exact search, so a crowded category should shape your plan, not your expectations of price.

Beaufort County, SC builds far less per resident (61.3 against 107.7 permits per 10,000 residents) despite similar overall competition. Already advertising in one of these places? The comparison shows how similar the competition is; it does not predict your results.
Check the math
Break-even is different for every business. Type in what a new customer is worth to you and how many leads become customers, and it will show the highest cost per lead you can afford, how many customers pay for your month, and how your expected cost per lead stacks up.

One idea, many names
People say Google Ads, PPC, paid ads, Facebook ads or Instagram ads; all of them mean paying per click, and we manage that for Bay County businesses on one flat plan.
Google Ads usually goes first because people searching are ready to act; Facebook, Instagram and Bing come next. Whatever mix you choose, one account manager handles it all.
Our process
We construct your campaign with the groundwork done properly: conversion-ready landing pages, keywords, ads, extensions and conversion tracking for calls and forms.
After launch we keep tuning the account, adding negative keywords, tightening bids and steering toward better leads.
We put more behind the ad groups that perform and test broader keywords to build on the calls you already get.
We never stop tuning, and we bring down your monthly management fee as your account grows, so your return keeps rising.
Plans
Flat monthly management, month to month, priced by how many platforms we run for you. You pay ad spend straight to Google, Bing or Meta, apart from our fee. Over $10K a month in ad budget? Call us.
Questions we hear
The management fee is flat, $895 for one platform, $1,595 for two and $2,295 for three, and it never rises with your ad budget. Ad spend is paid to the platform, and you can cancel anytime.
Work from your own figures instead of a rule of thumb: the calculator above takes your profit per new customer and close rate and returns the most you can pay per lead. In Bay County, real estate agents and brokers (3.3x) and physicians offices (2.7x) are denser than a typical county, so if you are in one of those categories plan for a busier auction. Before launch we size the budget with you, then scale as results arrive.
More than most. Bay County scores 69.4 on our Ad Competition Index, ranking 264th of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 107th of the 400 markets we cover. Real estate agents and brokers, at 3.3 times the typical county. Crowding does not rule ads out; targeting and landing pages simply matter more.
Across the twelve ad-heavy categories we track, the largest by employer locations in Bay County are physicians offices (208), real estate agents and brokers (156) and residential remodelers (104). Measured against a typical county, the most crowded are real estate agents and brokers (3.3x) and physicians offices (2.7x). Size and crowding in a category do not decide whether ads work for you; it tells you how many other businesses may be bidding on the same searches.
Certain campaigns start producing calls the day they launch. Some need a two-to-four-week settling period, more so in crowded categories such as real estate agents and brokers. Early on, we check search terms and exclude the ones that do not fit, so your budget goes to the right clicks.
Bay County has 190,769 residents, +8.9% since the 2020 Census, and 2,054 housing units were permitted in 2025 (107.7 per 10,000 residents). Population growth like that keeps bringing in people who have not chosen a provider yet. Either way, ads reach the people searching now, which is why we watch these trends when we set budgets.
Yes. We can target by city (Panama City, Lynn Haven, Panama City Beach, Callaway and others), by ZIP code or by a radius around your location. About 46% of residents live outside any incorporated place, and radius targeting is commonly how we reach them.
Absolutely. We manage Google Ads, Bing (Microsoft Advertising) and Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. Most Bay County clients start on Google, where people are actively searching, and layer on Facebook and Instagram ads to reach people before they search. Pricing steps up by the number of platforms, not by the size of your ad budget.
Everything is month to month with no contract. A dedicated account manager runs your account, and every month you see the calls, form fills and sales your Bay County campaign generated.
